What is the Permit Process?
Rum River Construction Consultants reviews and processes building permit applications, performs on-site inspections of residential and commercial construction and ensures that all construction activity is in compliance with state and municipal building and fire codes.
Permits Requiring Plan Review
Permits that fall into this category include, but are not limited to, all commercial projects, new construction, remodeling,
additions, and decks.
STEP 2
PLAN REVIEW
Rum River Staff reviews the application and supplemental information for compliance.
STEP 4
INSPECTIONS
All related documents are given to the applicant in person or via email detailing the required inspections.
It is the applicant's responsibility to contact RRC for the required inspection per the inspection record.
After each inspection, the applicant is sent an updated inspection record.

STEP 5
PERMIT CLOSING
In order to maintain active status, inspections are required at intervals not to exceed
180 days.
Once all inspections are complete the permit is considered closed. All documents are then maintained by the jurisdiction.
Residential Set Fee Permits
Permits that fall into this category are primarily maintenance related, such as residential exteriors and mechanical systems.

Rum River Staff, or your Municipal staff if applying in person, will review the set fee permit application information for compliance.

APPLICANT NOTIFICATION
Applicant is notified that review is complete & of any required fees.
If applying in person, you may be able to pay for the permit at that time.
Please visit the Jurisdiction page for payment options with your municipality.
Permit becomes active only after payment is made.
